There are three main ways to configure StockIQ to make order recommendations on a specific interval. A user must have Admin privileges to perform the following actions.
Note that this will have the effect of increasing your average inventory level somewhat, since your order quantities must be higher as a result. But, sometimes the operational convenience or requirements of order intervals makes this OK.
Method 1: EOQ
If you set items to the Order Point order policy, then StockIQ will recommend EOQ quantities when an item comes up for replenishment. You can set minimum levels on the EOQ to be at least 1 week, 2 weeks, etc in the EOQ Groups settings screen.
Using this approach, your order interval might be more than your minimum duration based on the calculated EOQ, but will always be at least whatever the days-of-supply is that corresponds with your EOQ minimums
Method 2: Order Cycles
You can configure StockIQ to order on a known order cycle. This order cycle can be a fixed number of days, calculated based on supplier minimums, or calculated based on a vendor level "EOQ".
When an order cycle is in place, StockIQ will attempt to order on an interval that corresponds with your order cycle duration, and order quantities are adjusted accordingly. If, for example, you have 7-day order cycle or 30-day order cycle, you will see that cadence of order recommendations in the Order Schedule.
You can configure default order cycle settings, or order cycle setting overrides.
Method 3: Vendor Schedules
If you have vendors that have a fixed order or delivery schedule, then you can fix your order or delivery days to particular days of the week (or month). This is also useful if you have trucks that ship transfers and leave your central distribution warehouse certain days of the week each week. This way, StockIQ can coordinate your transfer planning to the days the trucks will actually be leaving. You can configure these in the Supplier Settings Overrides screen.
