To determine if an item is new, StockIQ must have information about when the product was created or introduced.
You can check the values StockIQ is receiving for a particular Item-Site's Date First Stocked and Date Created by viewing it in Forecast Manager, Attributes Tab, under the "Dates" section:
NOTE: Many ERP's are relatively poor at recording accurate item-site creation dates, either storing only an Item creation date, or sometimes the date is copied when SKUs are copied or cloned from another SKU. StockIQ can often help with this on the integration side - just contact us if need be.
The process for determining if an item is new works like this:
- First, StockIQ checks to see if the item replaces another item. If the "Allow Part To Be New if it replaces something" from the Replacements Settings is disabled, then the item is not allowed to be new.
- If the "Allow Date First Stocked For Item Age" option in the Inventory Limits screen is enabled, and StockIQ received a DateFirstStocked in the ItemSite feed, this date is used as the item's creation date.
- Otherwise, if there is a date created sent in the Item Site data feed, this date is used as the item's creation date.
- If there is neither a DateFirstStocked or a DateCreated value available, and the "Use First Sale Date if No Date Created" option is enabled, StockIQ will determine the first time the item was sold, and use that as a creation date.
Thereafter, if any of those three dates are available, StockIQ will compare today's date to the effective creation date, and use that to calculate the number of days since the item was introduced.
If no date information is available, StockIQ is unable to determine the age of the item, and therefore will not consider the item as new.
If that number of days is less than your "# Days Items New" in the Inventory Limits screen, the item is considered to be New, and will be assigned the Usage Pattern "New"
NOTE: Even if an item has a usage pattern of "New", it is still possible for it not to be classed as "N" in the ABC classing. In particular, if the item has a non-stock policy, and the "Class Non-Stock Items" option in your Class Settings is unchecked, some New items will be classed as "X" instead of "N"
