Whenever demand changes happen for large groups of your products, such as during the current COVID-19 pandemic, you need to adjust forecasts to account for this, to ensure your purchase suggestions are in line with the sudden changes in demand.
There are two methods you can use to adjust your forecasts up or down for large groups of items. One way is relatively manual, the other way is more automated within the application.
Method 1: (Automated Adjustments) Edit Customer Forecasts
The Edit Customer Forecasts dialog will allow you to make similar changes across a wide selection of items, such as reducing all forecasts for certain groups of items by 25%, only matching certain filters, without implementing a top-down forecasting approach.
For more information, see the Edit Customer Forecasts help topic.
Method 2: (Manual Adjustments)Forecast Analysis & Forecast Import
You can combine the Forecast Analysis tool and the Import Forecasts tool to make broad adjustments to your forecasts:
- Load the Forecast Analysis by going to Forecast --> Forecast Analysis
- Select the Item-Site-Forecast Group tab
- Use the filters button to filter down based on criteria for items you want to change:
- Example: as only items with order policies that use forecast in their replenishment (e.g. Lot for Lot, Order Point),
- Example: A/B/C items only, etc. This will be business-dependent.
- Example: Filter dates to only the next six months
- Click Apply when you are done setting your filters.
- Use the Export icon to export the results from your grid.
- Further modify the spreadsheet according to your wishes, e.g. reduce all forecasts by 25%
- Adjust columns in the export to match those required by the Import Forecast template and save
- Open the Import Forecasts screen
- Set your forecast import options:
- Upload at the Forecast Group Level
- Set the Auto Forecast to "Restart On Last Date Found" in your spreadsheet so that auto-forecasting will resume.
- Select the "Enable Statistical Forecast After Auto-Start Date" option
- Upload your forecasts. Correct any errors in your document. The forecasts will be available immediately in StockIQ, and will immediately adjust your replenishment plans
