The Stock Outs alert tells you which out-of-stock items have open demand, and whether there is open supply to fill it. It helps you spot, automatically, where more supply planning is needed to fill customer demand.
Its home screen is Stock Outs. To change its settings, click Alerts on that screen. You need the Edit Inventory Alert Settings permission.
Which items can alert
An item can only raise this alert if your organization's Stock Out Policy counts it. The policy is set on the Global Inventory Limits screen and decides whether items with non-stock order policies, items with zero safety stock, replaced items and never-stocked items count. It is the same list the Stock Outs screen shows.
NOTE: This replaces the old "Do not alert for items with non-stock order policy" option in these alert settings.
Settings
Choose the group of items to change under Modify Alert Settings For, then:
- Enable This Alert- Turns the alert on or off for that group.
- Minimum Lost Revenue Per Day- The minimum lost revenue per day before the stock out becomes an alert. Leave it blank to skip this test, or set it to zero to alert on any amount.
- Minimum Lost Units Per Day- The minimum lost sales units per day before the stock out becomes an alert. Leave it blank to skip this test, or set it to zero to alert on any amount.
- Do not alert for X-Items- Skip items whose ABC class is X. This is usually turned on.
- Minimums Required- Whether a row must exceed both the unit and the value minimums, or either one. The other settings always apply.
Priority
- High- The item is out of stock, has open demand orders and has no open supply orders.
- Medium- The item is out of stock, has open demand orders and has open supply orders.
- Low- The item is out of stock and has no open demand orders, with or without open supply orders.
NOTE: If you use site groups, a High alert drops to Medium, and a Medium alert to Low, when the item is not out of stock within its site group.
Alerts are sorted by the largest lost revenue per day.
