Summary
Several StockIQ screens have a Get Insights from Edison button that writes a short analysis of what is on the screen. An Edison email briefing is that same analysis, written for you on a schedule and sent to your inbox — so the first thing you read in the morning can be what needs your attention today.
Six briefings are available:
- What to Focus On Today (Planner Dashboard) - your focus areas and today's suggested orders. Starts every workday.
- Opportunity & Investment (Executive Dashboard) - where inventory sits above or below target. Starts every Monday.
- Weeks of Supply (Executive Dashboard) - where coverage is thin or bloated. Starts every Monday.
- Executive Overview (Executive Dashboard) - the state of the inventory in a few paragraphs. Starts every Monday.
- One-Year Burn Down (Executive Dashboard) - inventory that will not burn off within a year. Starts on the 1st of each month.
- Last Used (Executive Dashboard) - stock that has not moved in a long time, or ever. Starts on the 1st of each month.
You can change the schedule when you subscribe.
Subscribing
- Open the screen and click Get Insights from Edison.
- When the insight appears, click Subscribe on the insight card.
- Check the schedule, then click Save. You can send one right away with Send Now from your list of report subscriptions.
You need the Subscribe to Reports permission, Edison turned on for your organization, and permission to see the screen. The Executive Dashboard briefings also need View Costs, because nearly every figure in them is a dollar amount. If you do not see a Subscribe button, one of these is missing — ask your StockIQ administrator.
What is in the email
- Edison's briefing- a few short paragraphs. After the first one, each briefing leads with what changed since the last one you received. When little has changed, it says so (“Not much has changed since …”) and gives a short status instead of repeating itself.
- The figures behind it- the tables Edison wrote from.
- Data as of- which StockIQ data refresh the figures came from, so a briefing built on old data is easy to spot.
- Continue with Edison- opens the briefing in StockIQ so you can ask a follow-up question. Only conversations you continue appear in your Edison history.
Who can see it
A briefing is written about your data — exactly what you can see in StockIQ — and is sent only to you. It cannot be copied to other people; each person who wants one subscribes to their own. The Continue with Edison link only opens for you.
Edison credits
Each briefing uses Edison credits from your organization's monthly allowance, the same allowance as Edison chat. A briefing typically uses 4,000 to 10,000 credits. Sent every workday, a What to Focus On Today briefing uses about 150,000 to 220,000 credits a month; a weekly briefing uses about 15,000 to 40,000 a month, and a monthly one well under 10,000.
- Once your organization has used 80% of the month's credits, each briefing ends with a short note saying so.
- If the credits run out, your briefing pauses: you get one email saying it is paused and when it resumes (the 1st of next month), and nothing else until then. To get it back sooner, ask your StockIQ administrator to use Request More Usage in Edison.
- If Edison is briefly unavailable when your briefing is due, you still get the email, with the figures and a note that Edison's commentary could not be written this time.
Changing or stopping a briefing
Your briefings are listed with your other report subscriptions, where you can change the schedule, send one now, or delete it. Every email also has an Unsubscribe link at the bottom.
