Summary
The Custom Time Series Settings screen is where you configure custom time series data, such as POS, on-hand data, store/door counts, or other leading indicators that you'd like to bring into StockIQ to enhance forecast accuracy in Forecast Manager.
It is accessible by clicking Admin > System Configuration > Forecast > Custom Data > Custom Time Series
Custom Time Series Grid
The grid at the top left of the screen will show currently configured time series, along with their Interval, Unit of
Measure, Aggregation Method, and Disaggregation Method.
Configure Custom Time Series
To configure a new time series, begin by hitting the New button in the upper righthand corner of the screen.
- Enabled- Whether or not the selected custom time series is active or not
- Time Series Code- The unique identifier for the time series as added in the impt.CustomTimeSeriesPoint data extract
- Time Series Name- What you want to call the custom time series (ex: Vehicle Registrations)
- Interval- The interval of the time series data (Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Semi-Annually, or Yearly)
- Combination Mode- How this leading indicator is combined into the forecast in Forecast Manager
- Auto- StockIQ chooses
- Direct- substitutes the indicator's signal directly
- Trend Adjust- nudges the existing trend
- Unit Of Measure- The unit that this time series is in, e.g. units, revenue, or any other measure. Used for display only
- Import Level- What is the level of the hierarchy that this data matches up to for matching on import?
- Aggregation Method- How should this data be aggregated up the hierarchy?
- Disaggregation Method - How should this data be disaggregated down the hierarchy?
- Preserve History- whether or not you'd like StockIQ to retain previously imported data for this series rather than overwrite it
When done, hit Save up top.
Note: once you've created a series, avoid changing its Time Series Code — StockIQ matches incoming data to the series by this code, so changing it later can orphan previously imported history.
Modify/Delete Custom Time Series
If you would like to modify an existing time series, select it in the grid — its values will load into the panel on
the right. Make your edits there, then hit Save up top.
If you would like to disable/remove any existing time series, select it in the grid and hit the Delete button. You'll
be asked to confirm, as this immediately and permanently removes all imported data for that series.
NOTE: Configuring a time series here only defines it. No data will flow in until you also turn on the
impt.CustomTimeSeriesPoint data extract or upload points manually from the Custom Time Series Import screen under the Forecast menu.
NOTE: Saving a new Custom Time Series automatically creates default leading indicator settings for every Demand Forecast Series, which you can further adjust on the Default Leading Indicator Settings screen.
NOTE: If your custom data does not change over time, use the Hierarchy Node Custom Attribute feature instead. Custom Time Series is intended for data that varies period to period.
