Summary
The Global Customer Class Settings screen allows you to enable customer stratification (ABC classing), set how often it runs, and configure how new, dead, and slow-buying customers are treated. Customer classes are used to rank and segment customers by purchasing contribution (revenue, margin, hits, COGS, quantity sold).
You can access this screen by going to Admin > System Configuration > Global Customer Class Settings
The "Recalculate Now" button at the top will allow you to recalculate customer classes immediately if desired, rather than waiting for the next scheduled run.
Once you have configured these global settings, you will want to configure the classing weights, break points, and history window in the Customer Class Settings screen.
Settings
- Enable Customer Stratification- Turns customer ABC classing on or off. When enabled, StockIQ calculates ABC classes for customers based on their purchasing activity. When disabled, no customer classes are calculated or updated.
- Update Frequency- Controls how often customer classing is run (Never, Each Refresh, Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Monthly and Weekly, Quarterly, or Annually).
- Number of ABC Classes- Sets how many classes to use, from 3 (A, B, C) up to 5 (A, B, C, D, E). 3 is most common.
Customer Age Settings
- New Customer Age (Days)- Customers active for fewer days than this are considered "New" and may receive special handling rather than being classed normally.
- Dead Customer Check Window (Days)- How far back to look for any order activity when determining whether a customer is dead (no orders in that window).
- Slow Customer Check Window (Days)- How far back to look when checking whether a customer is a slow buyer.
- Slow Customer Max Hits- The maximum number of order "hits" allowed within the check window before a customer is no longer considered slow.
Un-Classed Customers Mode
- Run Classing- When a new customer appears at any point, irrespective of the update frequency, all customers are reclassed.
- Assign Default Class- When a new customer appears outside of the scheduled update frequency, it is assigned a default class rather than triggering a full reclass. Customers are NOT all reclassed. Use this option for more stability in customer classing.
NOTE: unlike item ABC/XYZ classing, customer classing has no Site-Group level classing, cascading, or "class by" grouping checkboxes — customers are classed as a single population, using the weights and break points configured on the Customer Class Settings screen (Relative % breaks vs. Absolute revenue thresholds, plus weighting by Hits/COGS/Revenue/Margin/Quantity Sold). There is also no XYZ variability classing for customers, only ABC.
