Summary
The Excess & Overstock screen provides insight into which items in your inventory are in an excess or overstock position. This screen is designed for reviewing inventory in excess, providing recommendations on supply orders to de-expedite, and potentially provide insight into why this has occurred. Settings related to excess can be found in the Inventory Limits screen
Column Description
- Alert Priority (Bell) - if present, the icon in the column provides the severity of the Current Excess alert associated to this item-site combination. If there is no icon, the item-site is in an excess or overstock position but does not fall into the alert thresholds set in the alert settings.
- Standard Cost - the standard cost provided to StockIQ for this item-site.
- Standard Price - the standard price provided to StockIQ for this item-site.
- Margin % - the margin % on this item, based on the cost and price.
- On Hand Qty - the amount of on hand of this item-site, in units.
- On Hand Balance - the on-hand quantity multiplied by standard cost to make it an inventory value.
- DoS - Days of Supply, based on current forecasted daily usage.
- On Order Qty - the quantity, in units, of this item-site that are currently on order; may help to identify orders you may want to delay or cancel.
- # Open Orders - the number of open incoming supply orders for this item; may help to identify orders you may want to delay or cancel.
- Next Scheduled Dock Date - the date on which the next incoming order is scheduled to arrive.
- Next PO Qty - the quantity, in units, on order expected to arrive with the next incoming order.
- Date Created - the date when this item was created in your ERP, if available from ERP data.
- Date First Stocked - the date this item was first in inventory and available for sale, if available from ERP data.
- Avail Qty - the amount, in units, of this item available when open demands are taken into account. For more information on this, visit the Available Quantity article.
- Usage Pattern - the usage pattern for the item-site. If you are in excess on a recurring item, the problem will likely resolve itself; however, if the item is a sporadic, slow, or dead item, the excess may need additional attention to resolve.
- Excess Threshold - the quantity above which the item-site would be considered to be in excess.
- Excess Quantity - the quantity of the item-site in excess, i.e. On Hand Qty - Excess Threshold.
- Excess Balance - the excess quantity turned into an inventory value. You can sort by this property to prioritize your most expensive excess problems first.
- Excess Days - StockIQ's calculated projection for how long you will be in an excess inventory position for this item-site.
- Fcst. Daily Usage - the item-site's current forecasted daily usage. For more information on daily usage, visit the Daily Usage article.
- Daily Usage @ LT - the item-site's forecasted daily usage at lead time.
- Min Order Qty - the minimum quantity you order from your primary vendor for this item-site; this is helpful to identify scenarios where you may want to negotiate with your vendor if your usage is a lot smaller than your minimum order quantity.
- Order Multiple - the order multiple quantity from your primary vendor for this item-site; this is helpful to identify scenarios where you may want to negotiate with your vendor if your usage is a lot smaller than your order multiple quantity.
- # Customers - the number of unique customers purchasing the item from this site. More customers may mean that you are less at risk of staying in an excess inventory position over time; fewer customers puts you at a higher risk of being stuck with the inventory.
- # Ship-Tos - the number of unique customer-ship-to destinations that have purchased this product.
- Inv Pos @ LT - the projected inventory position at lead time; this provides insight into how much projected progress on cutting down excess this item-site has within a single lead time.
- Item-Site Notes - this is an editable column that shows any item-site level notes in StockIQ for this item-site.
- Cubes - the cubes on hand for this item-site.
- Excess Cubes - the cubes over the excess threshold.
- First Sale Date - the first date this item was sold at this location.
- Last Sale Date - the last time this item was sold at this location.
- Site Group - what site group this item/site is in, if any.
- Site Group Inv. Pos - inventory position of this item across its site group; while an item may be excess in one location, it may be in a different position across its entire site group.
- Site Group Excess Qty - the total excess for the site group. For example, if you have a group for "All USA Warehouses", you could see if you are in excess across USA warehouses or not.
- Site Group Excess Threshold - the threshold was calculated for excess for the item in this site group.
Context Menu
When you right-click on a row in the grid view, will have the following options:
- Inventory Snapshot - provides item-site attribute information.
- Inventory Exchange Curve - displays a graph specific to this item-site on how safety stock changes with service level changes.
- Forecast Chart - a visual of the item-site forecast, this is the same as what you would see in the Forecast Manager.
- Sawtooth Chart - the sawtooth diagram for this item-site.
- Item-Site Notes - allows you to view or add an item-site note that are on this item.
When the item-site row has an alert present, you will see some additional options to manage the alert; for more on how to manage alerts, view the Alerts topic, and for more on the alert specific to this page, view the Current Excess Alerts topic.
Display Options
The display options on the Excess & Overstock screen provide additional options for viewing data in this report:
- Include Overstocked - allows you to toggle whether or not to include items that are in an Overstock situation in this report in addition to those in excess.
- Include Planned Overstock - allows you to toggle whether or not to include items that are in the Planned Overstock inventory position in this report in addition to those in excess.
Detail Tabs
The additional tabs at the bottom of the report screen provide some additional insight and potential actions to take for the item-sites being analyzed:
- Order Schedule - the planned replenishment schedule for the primary supplier of this item.
- Sawtooth - the visual representation of the sawtooth chart for this item-sites's projected replenishment schedule.
- Open Supply Orders - a list of open supplies for this product, these might be orders to consider de-expediting or cancelling.
- De-Expedite Recommendations - StockIQ will provide a list of Supply Order De-Expedite Recommendations where possible, for all supply orders not already shipped, in order to help prevent or worsening an excess situation.
- Alerts - all alerts for this item, such as late PO's, open customer demands, forecast errors, and more.
- Root Cause Analysis - provides an evaluation of potential causes for the item-site being in an excess inventory position.
