Order Validations are run in Step 3 of Place Orders. They check to make sure the order is sensible and doesn't have any problems
IMPORTANT: Do not ignore these! One of the most common sources of questions to StockIQ is ignored order validation warnings.
Below is a list of the validations that run, and how they are intended to help:
- Duplicate Order Lines - Checks to make sure you're not accidentally ordering the same item twice.
- Item Costs - Makes sure items don't have $0 as their cost, which is likely an error.
- Mins/Mults - Makes sure you have not violated order line-level minimums and multiples
- Order Policies - Makes sure you did not inadvertently add items with inactive policies, such as Repalced or Do Not Order to your order.
- Overloaded Containers - If you've done container loading, makes sure all containers are at or under 100% capacity.
- Projected Excess - warns if you have added quantities to your order that will result in excess.
- Repeat Item-Site Order - checks for ordering the same item on the same day, in case multiple buyers might have looked at the same item.
- Repeat Supplier Order - checks to see if that supplier has already been ordered from that day, just in case somebody else has ordered from that supplier, to ensure duplicate orders aren't placed.
- Ship and Receipt Dates - Checks to amke sure ship dates and receipt dates are consistent with lead times, e.g. you're not shipping before it is received, and the ship date is not inside lead time etc.
- Supplier Minimums - checks to ensure all supplier minimums have been met, for both order and category level.
- Supplier-Item Minimums - checks to make sure all supplier-item level order mins have been met
- Warehouse Capacity - checks to ensure you are not going over your stated max warehouse cpacity (or warehouse days-of-supply) of any items that have this limit specified.
- Zero Order Quantity - Makes sure you didn't add or leave any rows in your order that have zero orde quantity on them, since most ERP's choke on that.
- Negative Adjusted Margin - Highlights when there are lines on the order that appear to have a negative adjusted margin, e.g. you will spend more in holding the inventory than you will ever make in selling that chunk of inventory.
- Expedite Opportunities - If StockIQ has information on expedited lead time, and some products appear to be projecting negative by lead time, then we will warn you that you have unrealized expedite opportunities that you should go back and evaluate.
