Summary
The Shipping Containers screen allows you to define the size and capacities of shipping containers that your organization uses.
It is accessible by going to Admin --> System Configuration --> Shipping Containers.
Steps/Process
- 1. To add a new container, click the "+" icon at the right of the grid, and a new row will be created. If you need to edit or delete a container, click the associated "Edit" or "Delete" links.
- Type in a name for your container, and then enter the maximum weight, cubes, and pallet measures for that container. The numbers you enter are dimensionless - StockIQ assumes that all of the weight and measure information we have are in the same terms, e.g. if you measure your items in pounds, then your container max weight capacity should be specified in pounds as well. Similar for Cubes. If you need to leave some "fudge" space for the realities of loading physical objects into the shipping container, you can define a max percent full something other than 1.0 (100%), e.g. .95 so that StockIQ will always leave some room in the container to account for those factors.
- If you specify a shipping cost for the container, once a container is selected in the Place Orders screen, we will use this to add to your approximate per-unit landed cost estimates, which can help you determine margin and profitability and order time
- Finally, you can enter a note about your container.
- Click Save when you are done.
The container definition will be immediately available to use in places such as the Order Wizard and the Order Containers window of the Place Orders screen.
