Summary
The Global Structure Settings screen allows you to control how the "Structure" is set up in StockIQ.
Structure refers to the structure, or topography of a supply chain and BoM, such as the Hub/Spoke layout, BoM layout, or both.
For example, it is not uncommon to have a finished good sold at a spoke, which receives replenishment from a hub, where in turn it is manufactured at the hub, and raw materials are purchased into the hub from a vendor. This complete path of demand from spoke, all the way to the vendor, is referred to by StockIQ collectively as the "Structure".
This screen is accessed by clicking Admin --> System Configuration --> Structure/BoM Settings
Column Description
- Explosion Setting - Determines what should be exploded by StockIQ.
- None - In rare cases, you may not want to have StockIQ do the explosion. In this case, StockIQ BoM explosion is completely disabled, and must be managed by data flowing into StockIQ.
- All - Normal BoM explosion.
- Hub Spoke Only - If your ERP is retaining some MRP functionality, you may set this to "Hub Spoke Only".
- BoM Only - Use this if you do not want dependencies flowed between hub/spoke warehouses.
- Explosion Method - Determines how StockIQ will do the MRP explosion.
- Net And Offset - When exploding demand downward, you must usually take into account inventory position and lead time to produce the finished good, which is the net-and-offset approach.
- Offset Only - In rare cases, it is appropriate to offset by lead time only, but this is not recommended.
- Passthrough - and in even more rare cases, it is appropriate to pass forecast of the finished good directly to the raw materials. This is not recommended
- Statistical Forecast - If you have many finished goods that are one-off, special order, or low volume, you may wish to have dependent forecast generated by statistically forecasting off of dependent history. Since this situation is usually specific to some finished goods and not mid-level assemblies, typically you will not use this option. For the items that need this treatment, the ErpExplosionMethod field in the ItemSite data feed will allow you to specifically enable this explosion where appropriate, allowing the normal net-and-offset method to apply for other assemblies.
- Offset by Manufacturing only for BoM Assembly - Allows you to configure StockIQ to net-and-offset by manufacturing lead time only, not the entire planning lead time. This can be useful if your supplier/manufacturer has a long administration lead time (perhaps a planning firm fence), but actual manufacturing time is relatively short. This allows you to time the arrival of different components appropriately based on when the manufacturing will actually occur.
- Deduct Open Orders of parent from component - Some organizations wish to see quantity of open orders of finished goods to be shown as reducing available quantity of the components. We do not recommend this option.
- Create Structure for Hub Warehouses - This enables the StockIQ feature of auto-creating your hub/spoke layout in the structure, so that it does not have to be created in scripts or data extracts.
- Ensure Hub is Primary Supplier - Normally, when the hub is specified using the ItemSite Hub Warehouse field, or the ItemSiteHubWarehouse data feed, the hub(s) is/are assumed to be primary suppliers for the spoke. If this is option is unchecked, other provided item-site-supplier records are allowed to be primary. This has the effect of not sending dependent demand down to those hubs, as they are no longer primary. This can be useful in situations with co-manufacturers that are not primary suppliers.
- Create Manufacturing Supplier - This instructs StockIQ to create a special Supplier entry for manufactured items, with the SupplierCode you specify, and the name "<companyname> Manufacturing/Assembly". This gives StockIQ a way to know how those items are produced, and then can create WO or MO's for them.
- Ensure Manufacturing Supplier Primary - Similar to the hub primary option above, allows you to enable/disable forcing the manufacturing "PROD" supplier is primary when auto-created by StockIQ.
- Create Missing Item-Site-Supplier Records for Assemblies - For any Parent Item-Sites in the BoMEntry feed, which have no ItemSiteSupplier record provided from the extracts, you can have StockIQ auto-create this link. Further, optionally, you can provide some minimums for these:
- Production Minimum
- Production Multiple
- Production Admin LT
- Production Manufacturing LT
- Production Shipping LT
- Production Putaway LT
