Projected Stockouts

Summary

The Projected Stockouts screen shows the items you are projected to run out of, or to go below panic point on, and helps you decide whether to expedite. It is the home of the Projected Stock Out Alert.

It is accessible by clicking Purchase > Projected Stockouts.

Which items are shown

Some items are expected to run out, so your organization's Stock Out Policy decides which of them count. It is set once on the Global Inventory Limits screen and applies to this screen, Stock Outs, both alerts, the dashboards, report subscriptions and Edison. By default, items with zero safety stock are included, and items with non-stock order policies, replaced items and never-stocked items are left out.

NOTE: These used to be "Include items..." checkboxes in each user's Display Options. They are now one setting for the whole organization.

Toolbar

• Views- Save and load your filters, display options and grid layout.
• Filters- Narrow the list by item, site, supplier, buyer, class, category and so on.
• Display Options- See Display Options below.
• Alerts- Opens the Projected Stockout Alert Settings. Shown only to users with the Edit Purchasing Alert Settings permission.
• Get Insights from Edison- Asks Edison to summarize the projected stock outs currently on screen. Shown when Edison is enabled.

Projected Stock Outs / Below Panic Point Grid

In addition to the usual item, site, description and category columns, the grid shows the following. The footer shows the row count. Use the clock button on the grid toolbar (Subscribe to this report...) to have this list emailed to you on a schedule.

• Alert Priority and Alert State- The projected stock out alert for the row, if there is one. You can activate, suspend or ignore alerts from this grid.
• #1 Supplier Code and #1 Supplier Name- The item's primary supplier. Click either for supplier details.
• Buyer Name- The buyer assigned to the item.
• Order Policy- The item's active order policy.
• Planning LT- The item's planning lead time.
• On Hand Qty- Your current on hand.
• Safety Stock- The item's active safety stock.
• On Order Qty- What is on order. Items with something on order may solve the shortage sooner.
• Worst Below Panic Pt- How far below panic point the item is projected to go.
• Worst Below OOS- How far below its out-of-stock quantity (usually 0) the item is projected to go.
• Worst$ Below Panic Pt- The value of that projected shortfall below panic point, in the item's stocking currency. Sort by it to tackle the biggest money first.
• Worst$ Below OOS- The value of the projected shortfall below the out-of-stock quantity.
• Date Suspended- When the alert was suspended, if it was.
• Alert Note- Any note on the alert.

More columns can be added from the column chooser:

• Next Scheduled Ship Date- When the next order is scheduled to ship from the supplier.
• Next Scheduled Dock Date- When the next order is scheduled to arrive at your dock.
• Next Supply Order #- The next order scheduled to arrive. Click it to open the order.
• Next PO Remaining Qty- The quantity still due on that order.
• Projected Below Panic Pt- The date the item is projected to go below panic point.
• Projected Out Of Stock- The date the item is projected to run out.
• Also: Supplier Item Code, XYZ, Out Of Stock Qty, Inventory Position, Inv. Pos @ LT, Worst Inv. Pos, Fcst Daily Usage, Prj. DoS, Standard Cost, Standard Price, Item-Site Notes, Item-Site ERP Notes, Alert Message, Suspended By, React. Date, Country Of Origin, Date First Alerted, your item-site categories and custom fields (including item-site-supplier fields).

Right-click any row for a context menu. On an alert row it starts with Suspend Selected Alerts..., Ignore Selected Alerts... and Activate Selected Alerts. Every row also has Inventory Snapshot..., Forecast Detail..., Sawtooth Chart..., Stock Out History..., Item-Site Notes... and Open In....

Display Options

The dialog starts with a note showing what your organization's Stock Out Policy currently leaves out. Users who can edit it get a link that opens Global Inventory Limits in a new tab.

• Schedule/Sawtooth Interval- The time bucket used by the Order Schedule and Sawtooth tabs.
• Layout- The layout of the Order Schedule tab.
• Expedite Tgt Qty- The quantity the Expedite Recs tab tries to expedite up to.
• Include All Sites in Expedite Check- Whether StockIQ also looks at unshipped supply orders at other sites when it looks for expedite possibilities.

Detail Tabs

Select a row to fill in the tabs at the bottom of the screen:

• Order Schedule- The order schedule for the item's primary supplier.
• Sawtooth- A chart of the item's projected schedule.
• Open Supply Orders- Open supply for the item that may solve the shortage when it arrives, so a list of possible expedites.
• Expedite Recs- StockIQ's supply order expedite recommendations for orders not yet shipped.
• Substitutes- Possible substitutes, such as stock at another location, replacements, shorter lead time suppliers or alternate part numbers.
• Alternates- Inventory status of the item's alternates, at alternate sites and as alternate part numbers.
• Alerts- Other alerts for the item, such as late supply orders, open customer demand and forecast errors.
• Customer Detail- The customers who bought the item in the last 12 months.

TIP: Use Include All Sites in Expedite Check and Expedite Tgt Qty in Display Options to widen the expedite search and set how much to expedite up to.
