Summary
The expedite wizard allows you to take advantage of expedited lead time to help decide how much of your order you might need to expedite.
This is most useful in scenarios where you have overseas vendors. Normal sea freight may be 30 days or more, but air freight can get inventory to you in 3-5 days, albeit at higher cost. However, if you can prevent a stockout with a short-term shipment, it can be a net win.
IMPORTANT: Use of the Expedite Wizard requires having information on expedited lead times in StockIQ, which takes either lead time overrides or an addition to your data extracts.
Steps
To use the expedite wizard, first you must select some items you might want to expedite. You can select multiple items using CTRL+CLICK or SHIFT+CLICK in the grid.
Select your items, then open the Expedite Wizard by selecting it from the place orders menu:
TIP: Use the new "Expedited Ship LT " column to identify which items have an available expedited shipping LT for the wizard to use.
Then, configure your options, in particular, your target quantity. Should StockIQ try to send just enough to prevent a stockout, to get you up to panic point, or up to your safety stock level?
Configure your settings, and click next.
Results Tab
The wizard will run and display results of the expedites. Very likely you will have several new order lines. Note they will display a shorter planning LT, and a planned receipt date that is earlier than before.
Changes Tab
Use the changes tab to more easily see what has changed. You will see your original lines with the old planned receipt date and same new planned receipt date, but reduced quantity.
Additionally, you will see some new lines with a shorter/sooner planned receipt date and the quantity that is being expedited by the wizard.
When you are done, click the "Apply" button, and your changes will be applied into your order. Your overall order quantity should be about the same as before, however, you will have new lines in your order.
The new lines will show the shorter, modified planning lead time, and the associated sooner planned receipt date. The shorter lead time is marked with a purple flag and a comment on the line below the grid to help know which lines have been modified.
