Process
Order Schedule Locking is the act of fixing some portion of the order schedule in time.
Reasons for this can include:
- A Planning Firm Fence - You may have set a planning firm fence for a supplier in the Supplier Settings Overrides page, meaning that you have a period inside which you do not want to allow production changes.
- Resource Capacity Planning - Due to resource capacity planning, you or StockIQ may have locked a plan down that satisfies resource capacity constraints and do not want it modified.
- User Edits - Or, you may have good old fashioned user modifications to the schedule. Any time a user modifies and saves a schedule, it is locked until that last date the user has modified.
Viewing Locks
When an order schedule is locked for an item, you will see a lock icon appear next to it in the order schedule header:
As well, lock icons will show for all periods that have been locked:
Locking & Modifying the Schedule
You can add a new release and modify your schedule by right-clicking and clicking Add (or edit) release to see the Edit Planned Quantity dialog.
Additionally, if you want to show existing lock info, you can click Show Lock Info and view the Edit Lock Info dialog. This is where you can actually view, save, unlock, and commit schedule lock info.
Schedule Lock Info Dialog
The Schedule Lock Info dialog shows all information about schedule locks that exist for your part number.
These can be a mix of previous saved locked releases, such as those from firm fence planning, capacity changes, or user-edits, AS WELL as current pending edits from using the Edit Planned Quantity dialog that have not yet been saved.
The window shows all currently locked releases, their quantities, and their dates. If this includes any releases that have not yet been saved, the note shown in yellow will highlight this - that you've made schedule changes that are not yet committed/saved to the lock info database.
If you have entered a new release or modified one, you can enter a new note and click the "Save Lock Info" button.
If you want to remove all user-created schedule modifications, click the "Remove User Locks" button. All user edited locks will be removed, and any system generated ones from firm fence or capacity planning will be preserved.
The "Remove Planned Releases Before Lock Date" checkbox will clear out any StockIQ suggested/planned releases that exist before the lock date, such as you might want to do if implementing a new "firm fence" inside which no new orders can be made. See also the Supplier Settings screen for supplier-wide firm fence settings.
When you are done, you can click "Close" to exit the dialog, and the schedule will be re-displayed if necessary.
