Summary
The second tab of the Stratification Detail screen contains a grid with details about your ABC and XYZ class assignments. The details of this classing are set in the Class Settings Groups page, and the frequency of the classing is controlled in the Classing Setup page.
Some details of the grid's columns are below.
IMPORTANT: The numbers shown in the Stratification Detail grid are gathered up specifically for the purposes of classing, and are annualized (if necessary) to represent annual numbers. It may have a combination of historical and forecasted data. As such, it is not useful or accurate for things like annual sales quantity or margin numbers - use the Sales & Margin screen for that instead.
Column Description
- Item - the item number being classed.
- Site - the site for the item-site listed. Note that in StockIQ each, Item-Site pair is given ABC and XYZ class assignments. Classing is not done at the Item level, (e.g. the item does not have a class without respect to a specific site in which it is stocked and sold).
- Description - the item description.
- Order Policy - the current order policy for the item. Depending on your configuration, non-stock items may automatically be assigned the ABC Class "X", even if they have a nonzero score on your classing measure(s).
- Usage Pattern - the usage pattern of the item-site, e.g. recurring, sporadic, etc.
- ABC - the ABC code assigned to this item based on your classing criteria.
- XYZ - the XYZ class code assigned to this item based on your classing criteria.
- On Hand Quantity - the current quantity on hand
- On Hand Balance - on Hand balance, in the item's stocking currency
- Demand Quantity - the total, annualized demand quantity used for the classing calculation. In the simplest case, this is the last 12 months' worth of demand, as of the last complete month. (e.g. NOT a rolling 365 days). However, depending on your classing settings, this may also include a portion of your forecast, and will also include any dependent demand (such as for a hub in a hub-spoke model, or a component of a finished good) and dependent forecast applicable for this part as well. How much of history and forecast is determined by the "Num Months of Sales" and "Num Months of Forecast" settings in your Class Settings Groups configuration.
- Hits - the total, annualized hits used for the classing calculation. If there are dependent demand records, each dependent demand is counted as a hit as well. Forecast is not able to contribute to hits totals.
- Cogs - the total, annualized COGS for any historical and forecasted demand included according to your class settings, similar to demand quantity.
- Rev - the total, annualized Revenue for any historical and forecasted demand included according to your class settings, similar to demand quantity.
- Curr Hold Cost - holding cost expected from your current on hand balance, according to the percent holding cost determined by your EOQ Settings.
- Avg Hold Cost - holding cost cased on the average inventory balance for this item.
- Tgt Hold Cost - holding cost associated with your target inventory balance for this item.
- Margin - the total, annualized margin expected for any historical and forecasted demand included according to your class settings, similar to demand quantity.
- Current Turns - turns based on your current inventory levels and forecasted usage for this item, see Turns.
- % Score - this is the item's total score on your classing criteria. For example, if you are classing by hits, and the item shows "2.5%", then this item has 2.5% of all of the hits within it's classing group. See the discussion of the score calculation in the Class Settings topic.
- Tot. Score - this is the running total of scores for items in the item's group. When the scores for each item in a group are assigned, the items are then sorted by their score in a decreasing fashion, so items with the highest score are first. Classing is then assigned and the running total of score is kept. When the score reaches the next break level, the class switches, such as from A to B, B to C, etc. This column can be useful if you want to know how close to the next break an item was, e.g. is this item a "High B" or a "Low B"?
- Safety Stock - the current active safety stock of the item
- Margin Percent - the margin percent on each sale of the item, see Margin and Margin Percent
- Adjusted Current Margin - adjusted Current Margin, based on holding cost for current on hand quantity, see Margin and Margin Percent
- Adjusted Current margin Percent - adjusted Current margin %, based on holding cost for current on hand quantity.
- # Customers - the number of distinct customers that have purchased this product. This can be helpful during a SKU rationalization process.
- # Ship-Tos - the number of individual customer-ship-to destinations that have purchased this product.
