Summary
The Forecast Wizard, aka "New Part Setup" is best suited for quickly entering a forecast for a new item.
Two modes are available - the "Simple" mode for just setting up a quick forecast, and the "From Existing" mode for copying forecast from another, existing part.
In either mode, you can specify the date range over which you want your selected changes to apply.
Simple Mode
In this mode, the only other input you need is the per-month or per-week forecast that you want to specify. Type in a number, hit the "Preview" button, and the Forecast Wizard will generate your preview.
From Existing Mode
Using this mode, you can generate your new forecast using a different item or hierarchy node as your starting point.
To do this, click the small edit icon (pencil), and select your target hierarchy node from the tree that appears.
After you've made this selection, you can choose what type of data you want to copy from that existing item:
- Start Date: Optional start date for your quantity. If you leave this our it will start with current period.
- End Date: Optional end date for your quantity. If you leave this out it will be copied to the end of your forecast horizon.
- Use Node: Use the pencil icon to bring up a node selector. Useful for copying a forecast into a new item from a 'like' item node.
- Copy From Forecast Series Type: You can choose to copy from a Forecast Series, Demand History or a Statistical Forecast.
- Copy From Forecast Series: Copy from one of your existing forecast series, usually your operational / independent forecast.
- Copy From Start Date: Used to offset what you are copying from. Allows you to copy from the year-ago-demand into the new forecast of your item.
- Change by %: Finally, you can make a percent adjustment. Type in your own custom adjustment if you wish.
Click "Preview" to see what this will look like for your new part.
When you are done, click "Apply", and your changes will be applied on the chart, and the wizard will be closed. Click the Save Forecasts button when you are ready to commit your changes.
