The calculate screen, within the Admin module, hows history of recent data calculations, as well as providing the ability to run the calculate step on-demand as desired. This can be useful if you make a settings change that requires a refresh of StockIQ data. The Calculate step is the 3rd of three major steps in StockIQ data processing.
IMPORTANT: StockIQ is not available for you or other users while the calculation is in progress, so make sure to do this only when all users are out of the system and/or are aware you will be running this step.
Starting the Calculate
You can start a new calculate/refresh by clicking the "Run Calculate" button. When you click the button, after a short pause, the system status will update to reflect that the refresh is running. When the refresh is done, the system status will show "Ready" again.
Additionally, if the previous refresh failed and is no longer running, AND StockIQ was able to record what the last successful step in the pipeline was, a "Resume Calculate" button will be available. This will re-start the calculate step from where it left off, thus reducing the amount of time it will take to get back to a ready state.
Monitoring the Calculate
The Calculate Sessions table shows all recent runs of StockIQ:
- Refresh Type - Indicates if this was a full, or partial/same-day type of update. Partial updates look at only new on-hand, demand, and supply information to allow for a quick same-day update of data.
- Start - When the process began
- End - When the calculate completed
- Duration - Overall end-to-end duration of the refresh
- Result - What was the result of this process, which will show either "Success" or "Error" or "In Progress"
You can click on each session to see the steps performed and duration of each step. If a refresh is in progress, you can click on the session repeatedly and the session detail will be updated with the latest step information.
Error Log
During the refresh, StockIQ will log events that are errors or warnings to the calculate event log. These can help explain why some data may not be shown or not present in StockIQ, such as if forecasts being imported refer to items that do not exist, or if a BoM refers to items that are removed or replaced. This can be used by the StockIQ team to help you cleanse your data and extracts.
