Summary
The Large Min Mult screen is a screen to view call out supplier minimums and multiples where their requirements are taking you way over your preferred stock levels, so that you can possibly use this to discuss with your suppliers, find alternates, or at minimum, be aware of the issues.
It is accessible by clicking to Supply --> Large Min/Mult.
Large Min/Mult records are identified by comparing the minimums/multiples from your supplier to what your "preferred" excess threshold would be without the presence of any supplier minimums or multiples. This means that if a supplier min/multiple takes you over this limit, it means that their requirements are taking you into an excess position you do not want to be in on your own.
For more discussion, see Max Stock and Preferred Max Stock, as well as Excess
The calculation of the so-called "Preferred Excess Threshold" is arrived at with the following calculation:
PreferredExcessThreshold = (Preferred Max Stock) - ((Excess Threshold) - (Max Stock))
Column Description
At the top of the screen is a summary grid showing all items with identified large min/mults.
In addition to the basic item/site/supplier identifiers, the grid contains the following columns:
- Min Order Qty - The supplier min
- Order Mult. - The supplier mult.
- Safety Stock - Current safety stock level
- Max Stock - Current max stock level (which includes supplier min/mults)
- Preferred Max Stock - Preferred max stock, e.g. your inventory level not including supplier influences.
- Excess Threshold - Quantity above which we consider an item in excess.
- Preferred Excess Threshold - What the preferred excess threshold would be for this item if there were no supplier constraints. This follows the calculation above.
- Daily Usage @ LT - Daily usage of the item at lead time.
- Min DoS - Days of supply represented by the supplier's minimum. Useful to see if their days-of-supply min is so large.
- Mult DoS - Days of supply represented by the supplier's multiple. Useful to see if their days-of-supply mult is so large.
