Definition
While not commonly necessary, the idea of "Equivalency Units" is a catch-all measure to try and relate part numbers to each other in terms of some common (Equivalent) measure.
The reason for needing this type of comparison is often when you have minimums or targets that are specified in terms of different units of measure, but can be related to each other.
One example of this is ordering a product that comes in different sizes of container. Say your vendor requires that you must order 1,000 gallons of water every time you are ordering water, and your SKUs have part numbers that equate to 1/2 gallon, 1 gallon, 5 gallon, and 55 gallons each. In this scenario, you would have equivalency units of 0.5, 1.0, 5.0, and 55, respectively.
Using these measures, StockIQ could ensure that you always reached your supplier minimum of 1,000 gallons automatically.
