Summary
The StockIQ SIOP Dashboard has the goal of unifying various aspects of your supply chain into one screen, where they can be viewed and discussed by different stakeholders, which the goal of aligning all departments on one consensus plan, in keeping with best practices for S&OP / SIOP processes. This article walks through how to use the screen effectively, and the various tabs in the screen.
Column Description
General Overview
The SIOP Dashboard is laid out with the assumption that there will be different groups meeting at different times during your SIOP period, which is typically run on a monthly cadence.
You can create different sets of data, called SIOP Series Sets, which are tailored to each audience.
You can view these sets at any level of your forecast hierarchy, and you can search/sort/filter among these as well.
Several charts and tables are at the bottom to help visualize your data, as well as take notes on important ideas, KPIs, problems, or decisions made in the SIOP meetings.
Lastly, a specific tab with a separate screen is in place for covering risks and opportunities, and making sure those are reflected in your planning.
StockIQ provides three out-of-the-box Series Sets as described in the SIOP Series Configurations screen to try and help you build up on some known best-practices. The default series set, "Demand Review", will load when you first load SIOP. We encourage you to use these as starting points to then modify to suit the needs of your organization.
Getting Started
At the left, StockIQ will show the selections at the highest level of your forecast hierarchy. You can change this using the Display Options (see below).
When you select something in your list, it will populate data for your "Demand Review" series set in the large grid to the right. If you have made a new series set and/or changed the default, that one will be displayed instead.
As with Forecast Manager, there is also a tree view where you can navigate up and down your forecast hierarchy, as well as a 'recently used' selections list.
TIP: Use CTRL+CLICK to select multiple entries at once if you want to see them stacked on top of each other.
Once you've made some selections, let's review the data you see.
SIOP Series Set
Your selections will be displayed in the large grid to the right of the inputs:
A header row is used to visually separate the different rows of data. Each row is displayed with its series name, which is configured in the SIOP Series Configuration Dialog when you are setting up each series. These can be displayed/shown as units, COGS, Revenue and Margin, and as differences or percentages of those.
In addition to the series name and the values for individual months/periods, there are a couple of special column types:
- YTD - Shows your year-to-date value, such as year-to-date forecast or year-to-date sales revenue
- FY20XX - Shows your totals for that fiscal year, so that you can see your projected/forecasted totals versus other forecasts or actuals. Note that these "FY" columns follow any financial calendars you may have, so if your financial calendar ends in a month other than December, the "FY" column will be shown in the appropriate location
- TOTAL - These are your horizon totals. So, if your horizon is 12 months, this will be the total for your 12 months of horizon values. It does not include YTD values.
Context Menu
Drill-In
You can "Drill-In" to see more information at any time by right-clicking on a series. A new window will be opened with your same filters and selections that is one level down from where you started.
Filtering
Two types of filtering are available using the "Filters..." button menu.
- Filter Inputs - This filters down the list of data that will be shown in the inputs. You can filter down to only certain product categories, sites, etc. StockIQ will filter what is selectable in the list.
-
Filter Data - The data filters allow you filter down what data is included in your selections when shown in the series set grid. For example, you might want to see all of your product categories, but only filter down how your A & B items are performing and their totals vs forecast etc. This allows you to "slice and dice" a bit for questions that are not necessarily aligned with your hierarchy.
- NOTE: When you have the data filtered, three asterisks (***) will appear on each row label to let you know that the data shown is partially filtered
Display Options
Click the "Display" button to get the SIOP Dashboard display options. This is where you can move between different series sets, or temporarily modify series based on questions during your meetings.
- Hierarchy Level - What level of the hierarchy do you want the screen to display in the input grids? You can move this up and down your hierarchy as you wish.
- Risk Status - What entries do you want to see in your Risks & Opportunities tab? This is filtered by default to only open and 'adjusted' R&O's, so that closed or ignored records are hidden and will not waste your time.
- Risk Type - Allows you to filter if you want to see only risks or opportunities in the R&O's tab. For more, see the Risks & Opportunities Screen.
- SIOP Series Sets - Shows the available SIOP Series Sets. You can add more of these in the SIOP Series Configurations administration screen. You can make one-off (non-permanent) edits here using the SIOP Series Configuration Dialog, but the changes you make are not preserved after you leave the SIOP dashboard.
Click a Series-Set to select it and have it shown in your SIOP dashboard. You can modify the series using the add/edit/move/delete buttons, or even add more series/rows if you want to.
For more description on the different series types you can add, as well as options for them, see the discussion in the SIOP Series Configuration Dialog topic.
Detail Tabs
SIOP Chart
There are two SIOP charts, which display data related to the selected item in your series grid. These are completely customizable. When you set up your series to display in the series configuration dialog, you can set which series you want to show on which chart, and which type of series to display, e.g. line, bar, area, spline etc. These can help visualize the numbers displayed in the Series grid.
Risks & Opportunities
This tab is a display of your R&O's that match your inputs from the display options. These are described in more detail in the Risks & Opportunities Screen.
Forecast Chart
This shows the relevant forecast chart for your selection, including the effects of any data filtering.
Item/Sites
Shows matching item sites at/under your selection, including the effects of any data filtering.
Notes
Use this tab to track notes about a particular selection over time. Notes are specific to the selected item, such as "Audio" in the screenshot below. Notes are tracked with each change, so you can see what your notes/targets/goals were the previous cycle and update them while still retaining a history of notes for review of previous months.
