Summary
When a stockout occurs, StockIQ will do a check against common causes of stocking out to help you arrive at a reason for why this occurred. This analysis, along with the overview process in the help article "How can I figure out why I stocked out on an item? should help you quickly get to the bottom of any issues.
This list of things that StockIQ will check is below:
- Under Forecasted - if you have under forecasted this item consistently between now and a lead time ago, it is likely this under-forecast could have resulted in a stock out. Check your forecasts and adjust. You may have been missing "Under Forecasted" alerts, so double-check that these are configured properly as well.
- Unusual Sale - if we find an unusual sale between now and one lead time ago, this could be the cause of a stockout. Large, unexpected demand could eat into inventory more than normal safety stock/service level measures would indicate. Check your Unusual Sales screen and Unusual Sales alerts.
- Late Supply Order - if we find that at least one supply order within the last lead time is late arriving, this could have been the cause of a stockout. Check your Late Order alerts, and also the "Open Supply Orders" tab in the Stockouts screen or elsewhere.
- Low Service Level Target - if this item has a relatively low service level, an occasional stockout could be expected.
- Missed Supply Order - StockIQ will check for situations where we recommended an order, but it was not placed or was placed far after initial suggestion was made.
- Non-Stock Item - it is possible that we simply are out of stock because we intend to be.
- Supply Order Date Change - when we have the data available, we will compare the original expected ship date and receipt dates versus what is on the PO today, and advise if there was a delay from the planner's initial intentions that caused the item to therefore stock out.
- Supply Order Quantity Change - similar to above, did the supplier change quantities after the original order, thus reducing and exposing you to a stockout?
